POS for beach bars on the Costa del Sol: printing without WiFi, Verifactu 2027 and seasonal management
A chiringuito in La Carihuela in Torremolinos, a beach bar in Los Boliches in Fuengirola, or a terrace on Playa de la Rada in Estepona all share three problems that a standard POS isn’t designed to solve.
First, the WiFi. The Paseo Marítimo router is shared with the bar next door, the ice cream shop and the parasol rental stand. In July and August, with 200 covers and customers connecting their phones, coverage is anecdotal at best. If your POS needs a stable WiFi connection to get the order to the kitchen, you’re going to have a problem exactly when you have the most covers.
Second, the season. A Costa del Sol chiringuito might open on 15 April and close on 15 October. That’s six months of operation and six months shut down. You don’t want to be locked into a 12-month contract or a system that charges a standing fee or penalises cancellation.
Third, Verifactu. If your chiringuito operates as an SL or SA, from 1 January 2027 you have to issue compliant tickets. If you’re self-employed, from 1 July 2027. For a chiringuito that closes in October 2026 and reopens in April 2027, that means reaching the 2027 season with the system already operational — or finding out in July that the POS doesn’t comply, with a full terrace and the inspector at the door.
The WiFi problem and the real solution
The solution isn’t installing your own router at the chiringuito or contracting a fibre line for six months. The solution is that the order doesn’t go through the router at all.
Bouzon TPV uses kitchen printers with Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Profile). The waiter takes the order on the tablet or phone, and the order goes straight to the kitchen printer over Bluetooth — without passing through any router, without depending on the Paseo Marítimo WiFi. Bluetooth range is enough for any chiringuito: 10 metres covers everything from the bar to the espeto grill.
How does Verifactu work in this setup? The ticket is generated in the cloud: the digital signature and Verifactu’s hash chain are processed by the server, not the local terminal. Printing is a separate layer. As long as the waiter’s tablet has a data connection (the mobile network, not the venue’s WiFi), Verifactu keeps working. The kitchen order goes over Bluetooth and doesn’t need the internet.
This stack — tablet + cloud + Bluetooth SPP printer — is what chiringuitos in Torremolinos, Fuengirola and La Cala de Mijas use when they don’t have stable WiFi on the beachfront.
Opening for the season: set up in a day
A chiringuito’s menu is simpler than a full-carte restaurant’s. A typical model has:
- Espetos (sardines in batches of 6, 8 or 12 — with a quantity modifier and automatic price delta)
- Sea bream (salt-baked / grilled / oven-roasted)
- Fritura malagueña (mixed / puntillitas / boquerones)
- Prawns in garlic / pil-pil
- Drinks (beers, soft drinks, wine by the glass)
Setting up that catalogue in Bouzon TPV takes under an hour. Modifiers (how the espetos are cooked, how the sea bream is prepared) are created as reusable groups assigned to multiple products. The floor plan — if there are numbered tables on the sand — is drawn by dragging tables into place.
The next day you can be taking orders.
What you don’t pay when you close
No standing commitment: if the chiringuito closes on 15 October, you cancel the subscription. You don’t pay for the winter months. When you reopen in April, you reactivate and the catalogue, history and configuration are all intact.
The price is €29.99/month for the POS alone, or €49.98/month if you add the Stock & Recetas module to track recipe costing (how much an 8-sardine espeto really costs, how much a 500g sea bream costs you). No proprietary hardware: it runs on any tablet or phone, with no contract tied to a terminal manufacturer.
The relevant comparison for a chiringuito operating six months a year:
| System | 6 months of operation (real cost) |
|---|---|
| Bouzon TPV (season only) | ~€180 |
| Bouzon TPV + Stock (season only) | ~€300 |
| Installed POS with annual contract | €600–1,500 paying through winter too |
| Basic cash register (no Verifactu) | ~€0 today, potential fine in 2027 |
Verifactu: the specific timeline for chiringuitos
The compliance calendar is the same as for the rest of hospitality, but chiringuitos face critical timing that inland restaurants don’t.
| Business type | Verifactu deadline |
|---|---|
| SL / SA | 1 January 2027 |
| Self-employed | 1 July 2027 |
A chiringuito operating as an SL that closes in October 2026 needs to have the Verifactu-ready POS operational before closing — or make sure the system is already ready when it reopens in April 2027. Season opening is not the moment to be making system changes.
If you’re self-employed with a July 2027 deadline, the risk is opening the 2027 season with your old system and reaching July without having migrated. If your existing POS doesn’t have Verifactu, you can’t activate it in July with a full terrace.
The comfortable window to migrate is autumn-winter 2026: the chiringuito closed, no service pressure, with time for training and setup.
Bilingual QR menu: the tourist who doesn’t speak Spanish
The Costa del Sol beach chiringuito serves, in season, British customers from Mijas Costa, Germans from Torremolinos, Scandinavians from Fuengirola and tourists from all over Europe who don’t speak Spanish. The waiter who speaks four languages is the exception, not the rule.
Bouzon TPV includes a QR menu that diners open on their own phone, in their own language, without installing anything. The menu shows photos, prices and modifiers in Spanish and English. The customer chooses, orders from the QR, and the order goes straight to the kitchen — without the waiter having to translate or transcribe anything.
For chiringuitos in Marbella, Estepona or Mijas Costa with a strong international tourist presence, self-order QR reduces order errors and frees up bar time during the midday peaks.
Local support: not from Madrid
Bouzon Digital is based in Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmádena. That means when you set up the chiringuito before opening in April, support doesn’t come from a call centre 600km away. Setup can be done in person or by video call, and if a problem comes up during service in season, we’re right there on the Costa del Sol.
Bar de Carnes in Benalmádena — the first local client with the full stack — runs the cloud POS with the modifiers specific to a grill house (meat doneness in 6 levels, side dish in 5 options). The chiringuito has a simpler catalogue, but the same system.
If you want to know how much it would cost to have the POS ready before your next season opens, the enquiry is a WhatsApp conversation, not a sales demo or a one-hour presentation. Just how many tables you have, what type of kitchen, and when you want to open.
Frequently asked questions
Does the POS work at a chiringuito without stable WiFi? Yes. Kitchen orders go over Bluetooth SPP directly to the printing device, without passing through the router. The waiter’s tablet needs mobile data (the phone network) to sync with the cloud — 4G coverage on the beachfront is good even where the local WiFi fails. The Verifactu signature happens on the cloud server, not on the local terminal.
How much does it cost to install the Bluetooth printer? A Bluetooth SPP printer compatible with Bouzon TPV costs between €80 and €200 depending on the model (Sunmi NT311 or equivalents). There’s no installation cost: it pairs with the tablet like any Bluetooth device. The investment pays for itself within two weeks if it avoids one or two dishes going to the wrong table.
Do I have to pay for the POS in winter when the chiringuito is closed? No. No standing commitment: you cancel in October, reactivate in April. The catalogue, history and configuration are preserved. You only pay for the months you operate.
What do I need to comply with Verifactu at my chiringuito before 2027? If you operate as an SL: be operational before January 2027. If you’re self-employed: before July 2027. The process has two steps, not three: get the FNMT certificate (~€14–20) and activate Verifactu in the POS panel. There’s no need to register the software with any AEAT census — that procedure doesn’t exist; certifying that the system complies is the manufacturer’s responsibility, via the declaración responsable they must provide you. Bouzon TPV has the engine already implemented — it isn’t an add-on module, it’s included in the €29.99/month.
Can I set up the POS myself before opening? Yes. A chiringuito’s basic catalogue (5–8 product families, espeto and sea bream modifiers, drinks list) is set up in under an hour. If you have questions during setup, WhatsApp support resolves them on the spot. For chiringuitos in Benalmádena, Torremolinos or Fuengirola we also offer in-person setup.
Does the system work if my phone’s data connection fails? The POS works with standard mobile coverage — 4G covers the entire Costa del Sol coastline. If coverage drops completely (unusual on the beachfront), the system goes into offline mode and syncs once connection is restored. Bluetooth printing to the kitchen isn’t affected: Bluetooth doesn’t depend on the internet.
